 Mountain Spirit Winery opened in 1995 and is a family-owned and operated
boutique winery nestled in the high country of the Upper Arkansas River Valley.
We produce premium wines on five acres of farmland with apple orchards and an
old homestead, surrounded by 14,000-foot mountain vistas. The grapes are trucked
in after being freshly picked from the Western Slope vineyards of Colorado.
Co-vintners Terry and Michael Barkett bring state of the art equipment and
educational backgrounds of clinical medicine and computer science to Mountain
Spirit's winemaking. This winery is trying to answer the question: "Everyone has
a Merlot and Chardonnay. Do you have anything different to offer?" We continue
to explore new blends of wines while maintaining high standards inherent to the
gentle art of winemaking, which gives rise to our motto: "Quality wines with a
difference."
