The Jefferson Cup Invitational Wine Competition

Hello again. Glad you've made it back around. There's always something exciting happening around the winery, be it new fruit to be crushed, new visitors to the winery, new wine to be bottled, or something entirely different, like entering our wine in competitions. And we're always happy to share the news with you.

Terry and I are very proud to once again have been asked to enter a selection of our wines into the Jefferson Cup Invitational Wine Competition. This is considered by many to be the Olympics of the American wine industry. Check out this link for information on last year's Cup: http://www.jeffersoncupinvitational.com This is the sixth year of the Jefferson Cup, and it marks the fifth year Mountain Spirit Winery has been asked to compete.

Doug Frost, the creator of the Jefferson Cup, is one of only three people in the world who has earned the titles of Master of Somellier and Master of Wine. I love that title, Master of Wine. It certainly has a ring to it. He selects worthy wines from across the country to compete in his invitational, whereupon the most sophisticated judges focus their critical tastes and perspectives in an effort at determining which wines are the best America has to offer.

Merely being chosen to compete is quite the honor, and Terry and I feel truly blessed to again have been chosen. In fact, Mountain Spirit Winery is the only winery from Colorado to have been selected to compete in this prestigous event. We don't know why we keep getting selected, but I guess we're doing something right. In less than a week, we'll be sending off four of our favorite wines: the Duet, the Reisling Chardonnay, the 2004 Limited Bottling Chardonnay, and our Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines will be competing against some of the greatest wineries from across the country. As soon as we hear back from Doug Frost and the judges at the Jefferson Cup, we'll be sure to let all of you know.

Thanks for coming around. And don't forget to mention our coupon code when ordering wine from the winery (1-888-MSWINES).

Peace and love my friends.

Dear Mike and Terry,
A few months ago, I took a road trip from Denver to Ouray. We passed the sign to your winery and I made a mental note to stop on the way home. But about 15 seconds later, my four-year-old said she needed to go "potty!" What a great excuse to turn around and find your lovely winery. You were so gracious to my girls, telling them how the grapes were harvested and pressed and put into the tanks. The best part was going home with several bottles of unusual wine. I shared the Reiseling with our hosts in Ouray and we really enjoyed it. I also love the Angel Blush and I've been holding onto the Raspberry wine to enjoy it around Christmas. (I wasn't sure how I'd get more since I don't make that drive often. But since our friends from Ouray are coming this way, we're going to place our order for them to bring to us. Several people will be getting bottles for Christmas. Thanks for a great Colorado product that is creative and lovely and tasty. Joy

What a fantastic story! It was your fate that led you to us. Fate or the bladder of a young child, either one. Regardless, Terry and I are happy that you found us and that our wines pleased you. I hope you realize that, depending on where you live, you can order our wines directly from the website, and we can ship them straight to you. Check our website for the list of states to whom we can ship our wines. Also, if you call the winery at 888-MSWINES and use the coupon code ANGELBLUSH2, you'll get a nice discount on your order.

And, again, thank you for your kind words. Terry and I really love this job, especially when we get to visit with nice families like yours.
